20 Years Ago Today . . .

August 3, 1991  St. Edmund Catholic Church  Oak Park, Illinois

I married the love of my life.  He's still the love of my life.  Although we don't look like this anymore,

I still look at him the same way.  In fact, today I not only love him, but I respect him and admire him. 20 years is a long time. Life hasn't always been easy or kind, but it's been a blest life. So many blessing adorn our 20 years of marriage: two beautiful children, wonderful family and friends and a shared faith.   Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth                                Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide                 Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow             Blessings all mine and ten thousand beside                            Great is thy faithfulness,                                                     Great is thy faithfulness                                               Morning by morning new mercies I see                 All I have needed thy hand hath provided                  Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me

For I am persuaded that neither death no life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8: 38-39.

It's been a great ride . . . bring on the next 20 :)

Have You Tried Pinterest?

I know a number of people have already blogged about Pinterest, but I can't help jumping on the bandwagon.  I LOVE Pinterest.  For the few of you who haven't heard about Pinterest, I should say right away that I'm not receiving any benefit from blogging about Pinterest.  I say that because I'm about to gush about it.

Pinterest is an internet bulletin board you can use to "pin" any image you want to save.  You can save food recipes, clothing designs, home ideas or anything else with an image.  Have you ever been surfing the internet and found something you really liked or that inspired you to make something?  You might not care to bookmark the site because that just takes you to the website generally instead of the specific image.  Pinterest allows you to "pin" images (you can even use a widget offered by Pinterest) on boards you name.  Kate from Songs Kate Sang has 38 themed boards, including boards featuring specific colors, photo ideas, home organization, vintage, ideas for birthday parties, holidays, seasonal decorating and more.  I'm just getting started, but if you would like to see my boards, check them out here.

That's the other cool thing about Pinterest - you can see other people's boards (and repin images to your own board if you want).  Because the "pins" are all in images, it is a feast for the eyes to see what other people like.  It's also better than bookmarks because bookmarks identify websites and you may not remember what you saw on the website that was interesting to you.  It's functional while aesthetically pleasing at the same time!  Best of all, there is no cost associated with Pinterest.

Currently, Pinterest is an "invite only" site.  You can request an invite from me (or anyone else with a Pinterest account), or you can request one here directly from Pinterest.

Be inspired and get pinning!!

Project-A-Day Postmortem

Whew!  July is finally over and so "Project-A-Day" ends too.  What a relief!  I loved everything I made (or finished) this month, but there just weren't enough hours in the day to do a project per day.  I also tend to do projects that take more than a day.  There were projects or recipes that I didn't include on the Project-a-Day page, some of which I will feature in upcoming blog entries.  In the meantime, I do want to remember (memorialize) those items I actually DID do during July (click on the picture to see if there is an associated blog entry):

No Sew Bed Canopy
Holiday T-Shirts
No Seam Pillowcase
Glitter Nails
Dry Erase Marker Pouch
Easy Button Shades
Chinese Chicken Salad
Strawberry Spinach Salad
Beach Study Station
I'll be changing the "Project-a-Day" page to a permanent DIY page where I will put pictures and titles of projects with links to the blog post.  I will also be starting a separate recipe page for my favorite recipes.  I don't create recipes, but I'm happy to share good ones :)
