Abbreviations:

SC = single crochet                               Color A = Green
DC = double crochet                             Color B = White
SK = skip                                              Color C = Blue
CH = chain
SH = shell

Shell = 5 DC into one stitch
Afghan worked with Bernat Softee yarn using Size G hook

With Color A, Chain 104 (or any combination of 6 + 2) Turn

Row 1:  SC across

Beginning in Row 2, all stitches should be worked in the back loop of the chain, including the edging.

Row 2:  *1 SC in chain from hook. SK 2 chains, 5 DC in next chain,
SK 2 chains, SC in next chain.*  Repeat from * to *  Continue across. At the end, CH 3 and turn.

Row3:  2 DC in same SC as the turning CH 3 (forms half shell), *SC in 3rd DC in next shell.  SK next 2 DC.  5 DC in next SC. Repeat from * across to end.  CH 1 and turn.

Row 4:  *1 SC in the same stitch as turning chain.  5 DC in the next SC.
SC in the 3rd DC of the next shell.*  Repeat from * to *  across. Work SC at the end in the half shell.

Rows 5-17:  Repeat Rows 3 and 4 five more times (13 total shell rows in Color A).  Change to Color B.

Rows 18-23:  Repeat Rows 3 and 4 three times (6 total shell rows in Color B).  Change to Color C.

Rows 24-35:  Repeat Rows 3 and 4 six times (12 total shell rows in Color C).  Change to Color B.

Rows 36-41:  Repeat Rows 3 and 4 three times (6 total shell rows in Color B).  Change to Color A.

Rows 42-53:  Repeat Rows 3 and 4 six times (12 total shell rows).  CH 1 and turn.

Row 54:   2 SC, * 3 DC, 3 SC*  Repeat * to * 14 more times.  SK one chain.  3 SC.  Tie off.

Edge:  With Color B, SC around outside edges of blanket, joining last SC to first SC with slip stitch.  CH 1  Work another row of SC around edges of blanket, joining last SC to first SC with slip stitch.  

CH 1  *1 SC SK 2 chains, 5 DC in next chain, SK 2 chains, SC in next chain.*  Repeat from * to *  around blanket.  Join last SC to first SC with slip stitch.  Tie off.
